4-H Crafty Cookie ClassCalling all young chefs! Tie on your aprons and get ready for 4 fun-filled days of cooking, learning and laughter in the kitchen! Our 4 Day Crafty Cookie Class is designed specifically for children and young adults looking to expand their kitchen skills, vocabulary and independence in their own kitchens while exploring cookies! We are so lucky to have guest teacher and business owner Kim Parsons of Flamingo Road Designs and Gifts. Kim was a former teacher turned baker, who loves working with kids and making the most amazing yummy treats. We are so lucky to have her willing to share some of her baking magic with us!! Class is August 8-11, from 10-12 each day. Register no later than August 3. Cost is $40 Location - Wicomico Extension Office, 28647 Old Quantico Rd., Salisbury In the class, students will learn how to cook, bake and decorate sugar cookies from scratch! Students will also learn about kitchen safety and the right way to handle kitchen utensils and equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for students to have fun while making something sweet to eat, sharing their thoughts and ideas, and getting in a little math too! Students will also be learning and practicing math, social, and creative thinking skills. Class times will include the following instruction: - demonstration and discussion of mixing tools and techniques- hands on of mixing ingredients- hands on of preparing recipes for baking or stovetop cooking- modeling of proper oven usage and safety-hands on decorating cookiesClasses will be broken down as follows: Day 1 - Kitchen Safety, Measuring ingredients activityDay 2 - Mixing dough, baking cookiesDay 3 - Making Royal Icing, learning about different icingsDay 4 - Decorate Cookies!!!
