After having to postpone [due to Covid Pandemic] the 2020 and 2021 RBC Pioneers Association “Old Timers” Reunion Dinner and Dance, held annually since 1912 [with a few exceptions] the steering committee and officers have held multiple discussions on making the event more welcoming, appealing and open to all community members. To that end, the Committee voted to remove the original bylaw membership requirement for minimum age of 30 and the residency requirement or school attendance requirement. Consequently anyone age 18 and above and their guests are welcome to register to participate. The committee is particularly interested in welcoming younger community members to sustain this 110 year old traditional annual gathering, RBCPA was created originally to honor notable pioneer family members who contributed to the early development of Meeker, Rangely and Rio Blanco County. There are still many current multi generational descendants of original Rio Blanco County pioneers whose families can be traced back to the original pioneer families who settled the area and founded the communities since 1885. The Town of Meeker was the 45th Community chartered by the State of Colorado, which is longer than many other communities throughout Colorado. The committee is seeking to recognize the 21st Century Pioneers who exemplify the original “Spirit of the Pioneers” in their servant leadership and community service endeavors on behalf of the youth and adults of our County. RBCPA has created the “Spirit of the Pioneers Award” annually presented to deserving community members since 2017. PLEASE NOTE: CLASS AND FAMILY REUNIONS ARE ENCOURAGED.
