Description

Pediatric Advanced Life Support is a classroom, Instructor-led course that uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. PALS also teaches Pediatric CPR, the use of a bag mask and an AED for 1 and 2 rescuers. Students will practice skills along with the video, participate in megacode practice scenarios, take a written exam of 50 questions with a passing score of 84%. Participants will then be tested on one cardiac scenario and one respiratory or a shock scenario. Students who successfully pass the course will receive an American Heart Association PALS Provider E-Card good for two years. Upon successful completion of the PALS Provider course, students will be issued their AHA ACLS Provider Card via email within 12 to 48 hours.
