Position Overview: As a Tree Climber you are responsible for tree removals and structural pruning at a Master level and are expected to mentor fellow team members. This can be a supervisory level for the right candidates. Your skill set allows you to take a problem, own it, and see it through to completion in a safe, responsible, and thorough fashion. You have the ability to address any issue that arises with care and thoughtfulness. You take ownership of our processes while honing your skills further to keep up with ever changing technology and process. No job is too small when it comes to moving the entire team forward. As a Tree Climber you are responsible for the more co tree removals and pruning where an experienced climber is necessary to complete the job safely and efficiently. Qualifications: Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record Team player who is able to communicate and work well with others Uncompromising attention to detail Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions Ability to occasionally work in a high stress - fast paced environment Must consider safety and courtesy high priorities Willingness to learn and develop new skills Must demonstrate the ability to adapt to environments and situations Ability to lift and carry 50-100lbs Minimum 2 years tree climbing experience including pruning and removals Preferably 4 years’ experience in the Arboriculture industry, preferably a certified arborist Responsibilities Include (but not limited to): Proficient Groundsman 3 Proficient Climber 1 Experienced in SRT/DRT for pruning Experienced spurring removals and rigging Experienced in dead / hazard tree removals Safe in tree chainsaw practices Effectively record and manage daily insights, improvements, employees time (in/lunch/out) and equipment needs Assist crew leads in delegation Responsible for climbing equipment status and communication of needed services Trainer on processes and safety for all employees under supervision Ability / willingness to obtain arborist certifications and crane certification Climbing trees using approved climbing equipment according to ANSI Z133.1 industry standards Trimming, pruning, shaping trees and shrubs according to ANSI A300 industry standards Static and dynamic cabling, bracing, bolting, guying trees and branches Specialized skills needed to operate and perform general maintenance on equipment such as a chipper, stump grinder, and chainsaw, and other various tools in a safe and responsible manner, according to ANSI Z133 and company standards. Ability to tie tree industry knots Skill to hoist tools and equipment, safely lower branches with ropes, use a block and tackle Daily inspection of all personal climbing and safety equipment including ropes, saddle, PPE Learns, understands, and adheres to all safety rules and company safety policies, participates in all safety training sessions offered, asks questions, and improves job safety skills
