CEMETERY GROUNDSKEEPER DUTIES
• Mow and trim lawns throughout cemetery including around monuments, head stones, curbs, and trees
• Maintain and repair automatic sprinkler systems and lines
• Irrigate cemetery grounds using automatic and manual systems
• Prepare for burial services
• Prepare graves for burial (including, assisting in digging graves, setting-up lowering device, set-up chairs and tent, lower caskets, etc.) at gravesites
• Provide additional assistance to service attendants, mortuary directors, and families as needed
• Install headstones and floral vases
• Cultivate, prune, and edge lawns and flowers
• Trim trees and shrubs
• Weed landscaped area and pick up litter
• Operate light and heavy equipment including backhoe and riding mower
• Clean and perform basic custodial tasks in cemetery and facilities as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Education: At least some high school education. High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience: At least six months of groundskeeping or landscaping experience required
• Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, stoop, kneel and crouch
• Employees are required to work onsite Monday – Friday (hours change seasonally) with occasional weekend work when necessary
COMPENSATION
$17 - $20 DOE, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401K, paid holidays, paid sick leave, paid vacation
