OVERVIEW: Laborers are essential to the success of DHF. Laborers are responsible for the hands-on, day-to-day work that takes place on each job site. Laborers are responsible for general construction of the excavation on projects, including hand shoveling and operation of small tools. Laborers work under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, Foreman, and/or Operator, sometimes independently and sometimes with a team. I. ADMINISTRATIVE A. Represent DH Funk's Mission, Values & Goals. B. Ensure quality, have a positive attitude, be proactive, be willing to work with others, maintain a good work ethic, take ownership. C. Attend daily team meetings, on site as-needed, to coordinate duties. D. Complete and submit a daily timesheet. II. SAFETY A. Be familiar with and practice all Safety Requirements and Excavation & Paving Practices on jobsite. B. Recognize job site safety hazards and hold fellow employees and subcontractors accountable. III. CONSTRUCTION PHASE A. Perform general labor tasks. B. Use laser equipment and small hand tools to accomplish duties. C. Perform hand labor shoveling. D. Report to Foreman and/or Operator. Work as a team member with all positions on site. E. Train on various pieces of equipment, as authorized by Foreman. F. When training on equipment, perform a daily pre-trip inspection and fueling of equipment. Submit form to Site Supervisor, Foreman, or Project Manager. G, Maintain good housekeeping of tools, equipment and job site on a daily basis. H. Loot asphalt and hand tamp as needed I. Tamp asphalt as needed IV. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES A. In relation to Snow Removal: Laborers are assigned snow jobs by the Project Managers. Laborers are responsible for safe, efficient, thorough snow removal, whether being a laborer, operator or hauling snow. Laborers must be available 24/7 during a snow event and communicate regularly with their Project Manager. Laborers must inform their Project Manager of any schedule conflicts 48 hours prior to a snow event. B. In relation to non-job specific activities: Laborers are required to attend all mandatory Company Meetings, all applicable Safety Meetings/Training, and Tool Box Talk Meetings. V. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING A. High School Diploma or Equivalent B. General Knowledge of Construction and Equipment C. General Knowledge of Safety D. General Knowledge and Use of Laser Equipment VI. REQUIREMENTS A. Valid PA Driver's License B. 18 Years Old or Older C. Ability to Work in a Team Environment D. Willingness to Learn VII. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS A. Extreme weather conditions B. Moderate to high level of noise C. Fumes and airborne particles D. Repetitive vibration E. Uneven surfaces F. Trenching and excavation below ground surface G. Continually strenuous activities To work safely and optimally in this environment an employee should be able to: A. Lift 50 pounds, exert 100 pounds B. Climb, squat, balance, kneel, reach, walk, push, lift and perform repetitive motion C. Effectively receive information visually and auditorily D. Communicate competently
