The DMV is full of female-jazz vocalists and male-jazz musicians. Where are the male jazz vocalists? The DMV could use one more. "I volunteer as tribute!"
Hello, I am a (tenor) vocal performer/entertainer within the DMV area. As an active singer, musician, songwriter, recording artist, arranger, and producer, I am often called upon to perform for private engagements (Ballroom singer). I usually use my own sound system with my MP3 player at these gigs. My repertoire ranges between Jazz Standards, Motown, Pop Inspirational, and some Broadway. In addition, I like to throw in other languages as well (Romantic languages). Consider Diana Krall, Rod Stewart, Pebo Bryson, Michael Buble, Andrea Bocelli, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Stevie Wonder, Babyface, Al Jarreau, and many more.
Recently since the lifting of the mandate, there's been a deep hunger for 'live' music (THIS IS GREAT)! I've been getting a few requests to perform with 'live' musicians at venues and there's nothing like that 'LIVE' experience.
I have a huge fan base in this area and my concerts do well. However, there are a couple of things I lack and that's a 'live' band and a local venue. I'm currently trying to recruit musicians so that we could have these opportunities. I read music and have a ready-to-perform repertoire, therefore, I'm a quick study. The musicians I'm looking for would be Pianist, Percussion, Upright/Basses, and from time to time, we'd bring in other instruments for added color and variety. All musicians would need to be able to read music. Playing by ear is an added plus, but reading music is a MUST.
If you're in the DMV and are looking to expand your performing opportunities with a talented and skilled vocal artist, please don't hesitate to reach out. As of now, I don't have any particular venues lined up. But when I reach out to them, I want to be concert ready.
Looking forward to connecting with serious musicians soon.
