In honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the Topsfield Historical Society is inaugurating a “Reading the Revolution” book club. Our first reading will be Woody Holton’s Liberty is Sweet: The Hidden History of the American Revolution. Book sections will be discussed over four months.
A sweeping reassessment of the American Revolution - its beginnings, the revolts that led up to the Declaration of Independence, the military battles, the peace treaty and the Constitution - Liberty is Sweet shows how the founding fathers were influenced by the freedom struggles of overlooked Americans, including artisans and farmers, enslaved Africans, the Native Nations, women and religious dissenters.
ONE night's registration is good for all four nights.

Monday, November 14 Poor Man’s War Chapter 26 through 33
Monday, December 12 Rich Man’s Peace and the Constitution Chapter 34 through Epilogue
In the event of inclement weather, discussion will be held over Zoom.
