Description

Presented by: Rochester Colonial Manufacturing A Conference of The Landmark Society of Western New York, Preservation Association of Central New York, City of Syracuse, Preservation League of New York State, and NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. The NY Statewide Preservation Conference is returning to an in-person format and is headed to Syracuse! We can’t wait to see you in the Salt City, September 22- 24, for three days of exploration, conversation, and education. The historic Marriott Syracuse Downtown— vacant since 2004 and re-opened in 2016 using historic tax credits—will be our home base. From there, we’ll explore preservation projects throughout downtown Syracuse and beyond. SHIFTING LANDSCAPES The theme for 2022 is Shifting Landscapes. Whether due to a pandemic, climate change, the economy, or an unpredictable real estate market, as preservationists we are always adapting our work as the landscape shifts beneath our feet. At this year’s Conference, we’ll explore the shifting practice and definition of historic preservation, both as a professional field and grassroots movement. We’ll also celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted, and explore the role that cultural landscapes play in fostering equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in our communities. We hope you’ll join us and be a part of the conversation! The NY Statewide Preservation Conference is the only event of its kind in the state—a multi-day gathering for anyone involved in preservation and community revitalization. It’s an opportunity to learn, network, become inspired and, yes, have fun! It is the preservation event in New York State and you don’t want to miss it. Your Conference registration includes: an intensive, pre-Conference training session on Thursday; a full day of breakout sessions, keynote, and party on Friday; and field sessions on Saturday. WHO IS THE CONFERENCE FOR? Grassroots preservationists in villages, rural towns, and cities throughout New York; professionals working in the field or allied fields (architects, planners, landscape architects, developers, etc.); elected officials and municipal board members; city neighborhood leaders/ activists; students in preservation and allied fields.  COMPLETE CONFERENCE DETAILS, INLCUDING SCHEDULE AND SESSION LISTING AVAILABLE ON THE CONFERENCE WEBSITE:  http://landmarksociety.org/conference/
