I AM Enough retreat and Aaya Casa are 501(c) 3 non-profit organizations for domestic abuse that has partnered to present to you, our 1st Annual “Behind The Mask” Gala. The Gala will support every aspect of the intervention, prevention & educational services that are critical to the missions of connecting victims of domestic abuse with resources to help them make informed life-changing decisions; providing a platform for healing, education, transformation and emergency transitional assistance for women experiencing distress. Our Keynote Speaker, and a local native is Dr. Michelle Boone-Thornton who has worked in the field of mental health for over 25 years; served as a keynote speaker and presented across the U.S. and internationally. Dr. Boone-Thornton is an author and holds multiple degrees such as Sociology from Christopher Newport University; Urban Education Guidance and Counseling from Norfolk State University; Her doctorate from Regent University in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Research. She is also certified through the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Qualified Mental Health Provider with a specialization in children & adolescents.
