Mushroom is a 5 year old Flame Point Ragdoll Mix, and he had been neutered, has his rabies shot, and FeLV/FIV negative. He is an indoor-only cat. When we first adopted him from Bradshaw Animal Shelter, we were enamored by his goofy demeanor and how he practically melted into our arms while we held him. We knew we couldn’t stand a chance against his charm, so we brought him home. He had no problems being in the car — in fact, he purred throughout the entire ride! He loves to cuddle with you at night and is very clumsy in a silly way. He will greet any visitors by rubbing against their legs, and Mushroom definitely has a way of making you feel special by always wanting to be around you! What we weren’t prepared for was just how much energy he has in him. Though being 5 years old, he has a very kitten-like amount energy, and despite our best efforts, our two female cats have made it clear that they don’t like him. We’ve come to face the reality that his boisterous personality is a bit too much for my cats and I to handle, and it is with a heavy heart that we’ve decided to rehome him, as we think another home where he can have a male cat as a playmate or maybe even a cat-friendly dog (though we don’t know how he will react to a dog, as he has never interacted with one) may be best for him. Furthermore, I personally think a cat-savvy adopter would be good for him, mostly because he has a tendency to hunt our legs/arms. It may be helpful for someone to know when to see this coming and help him redirect his behavior. For this reason, perhaps a home without young children would be best, as well. Mushroom is special needs because he has arthritis in his left front leg, causing him to limp. He also has a slight heart murmur that my vet says should be checked on once a year to make sure it doesn’t get any worse. I will be happy to relinquish medical records to you, should you take him home.
