Description
It is with a broken heart that we are trying to find a new family for our dog Myrtle. We received Myrtle from AARF in December of 2020 as a puppy and she was doing great. We also have another female dog (Tessa) in the house that is about 4 years old. They were doing great together until about 2-3 months ago. Since then it has been one fight after the other. Some are triggered by food or space, others we are not sure about. We separated the food and try to keep them apart with no results. The fights are getting so bad that we are not able to get them apart most of the time without having some large noise or trying to pull them apart. They are also starting to leave bite wounds on each other. So far no serious injuries have occurred. We are keeping them separated now until we can find a new home for Myrtle. Besides the altercations with Tessa, Myrtle is a great dog and it breaks my heart having to give her up. We have neighbor dogs that are female and she has no issues with them. Not sure about male since she has not been around them. She is great with people and kids. She also does well with cats. We just found a kitten in our tree and she loves to play with it. She also does great with strangers. She will bark at first but once she sees that they are friendly she will try to lick you and give you lots of doggy kisses. We take her camping, hiking and to the lake. She loves to swim but hates the bathtub. Once she is in it she usually stands still and waits until you are done. She does very well with toys and her dog bed, she does not tear them up like some dogs do. She is house trained and crate trained. She also responds very well to an underground fence. We do not have to put the collar on her anymore, she has learned her boundaries and stays within them. She knows basic commands such as sit, down, in(to get into crate), and speak(she will bark). Please let us know if you are able to help. Breed: Pit mix Age: 2 years old at the end of September Gender: Female Up to date on all shots Spayed Microchipped
