Litter
Cage liners are a very popular and cheaper (in the long run) option to regular litters.
But you will have to clean the liners more often. Spot cleaning daily is recommended, and washing liners every 2-4 days at least. Wash with white vinegar to kill odor and disinfect the liner.
If you choose to use entirely litter in the cage, changing it all out should be done weekly unless you feel like you should do it more depending on cage size. Clean with diluted white vinegar, white vinegar won’t harm piggy.
Safe litters for guinea pigs are: paper bedding, aspen, and paper pellets.
*Do not use cedar or pine litter. It harms guinea pig’s respiratory due to the dust, oils and phenols.
