CL deleted my previous post... probably because someone was "offended". By what, pray tell? I have no idea. It could be anything. Okay so I'll stick to the basics so nobody gets their whatevers in a bunch. That's probably offensive if your whatevers are in a bunch right now. Bassist/guitarist here. Looking to either start or join a band which has an organic songwriting process. Not a jam band, but not a super-regimented uber-pro band. Influences: Wipers, Melvins, CCR, Sleep, Kyuss, Nirvana, McLusky, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Soundgarden, QOTSA, Dinosaur Jr, Meat Puppets, Om, Black Sabbath, old thrash like Anthrax and Megadeth (not nearly as technically awesome as them, though... but we can try to make bad trash thrash maybe?), Saint Vitus, REM, Discharge, Interpol, Crosby Stills Nash (and Young!), hahaha Hall and Oates, The Shaggs, Sunn0))), Beat Happening, and other stuff like weird old Nickolodeon cartoons/shows and MTV animated stuff like The Maxx, philosophy, theology, knowing the world as it really REALLY is, and stuff science can never ever know about because well... maybe that's the point. Again, maybe someone's offended that I might not worship Darwin or MENSA or MIT or quantum physics or the medical-industrial-complex, and that's fine, but I'd be offended if your offense continues to stifle free speech, so just ya know go chill out in a safe space of your choice and have a great day, okay? You're gunna be fine, alright? Awesome. You are loved. You are appreciated. Go to sleep. So in all seriousness, here's what I am looking for from a commitment standpoint: -You are able to practice at least once a week but twice a week would be great, as well -You live reasonably close so that I'm not the one spending 25 bucks to get to practice when everyone else lives rght round the corner -The music is important, like in your top 3 things you do with your life. I'm not saying let's "get big"... that's not even an option anymore, and that's not the point. I just want to jam with people who aren't distracted by twenty other things and consider music a "hobby", or a "way to blow off steam", or even that cheap thing we call "fun". This is art, jack! (I don't talk like that in real life). Art is borne from burdens and suffering and existential/spiritual angst. Man... see... I've probably triggered the atheists mentioning non-empirical things. Atheists... you've already secularized everything else, so please just let me have my little cove of meaning and purpose here. Thanks! - You should probably have a job, but as long as you have your own gear, transportation, and can show up and play and be creative, that's the important thing. - Don't be an a-hole. You know... be compassionate and thoughtful and considerate. I don't care whatever gender/pronoun you are. Just let's be excellent to each other. It's not our place to enact judgment. - and yeah let's make music, write songs, record some stuff, play some shows, and see where it goes from there! If that sounds good to you, then email me. Sincerely, A.
