The 2nd Amendment is interesting because it is the ONLY Amendment that has a preamble, in this case it is a condition or qualifying clause: “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to a free state”. There is nothing there about anything other than a militia. There are no such conditions or qualifiers placed on any other rights granted in the Constitution. Who among us thinks that the founding fathers would refuse to act in the face of all the mass shootings we now have? Not me, frankly I think they were smarter and more kind hearted, especially when it came to their fellow citizen. And the ridiculous argument about fighting against a tyrannical government? Ha! The US Government has the firepower to take out 10,000 armed citizens with just a few shots, who are you kidding? Howitzers? Cruise missiles? Napalm? You think you and your 5.56mm have some kind of chance against that? If the ‘Guv wanted to oppress and enslave you, there wouldn’t be much you could do about it. Luckily for you, nobody wants to either, unless you believe in fairy tales.
