The Southend Connection is a community hub that focuses on revitalizing the Southeast Seattle neighborhood by investing in the development of its residents. The Southend Connection is founded on restoration, healing, and economic resourcing that builds and strengthens neighborhood safety and access to opportunity for Black and Brown communities in Southeast Seattle. As a part of the mission of the Southend Connection, we worked together to prepare, plan and implement the Othello Marketplace. The Othello Marketplace provides a consistent space for young entrepreneurs and small business owners either from or operating in the Southeast Seattle neighborhood to provide goods and/or services for the community. We know that supporting local small businesses increases economic opportunity and contributes to creating a safe, healthy and thriving community. We also want to provide a platform for young, talented music artists from the neighborhood to perform and share their gifts with the community.
