Mt Baker Products is a premier manufacturer of decorative plywood used for cabinetry, furniture and interiors throughout North America. Our company uses veneers like cherry, walnut and oak to produce high end panels for the woodworking industry. Job Summary: Swing Shift: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm; Monday through Friday. Overtime potential, including on Saturdays. The Glue Mixer is responsible for mixing raw material to create glue adhesive. At the direction of the supervisor, the Glue Mixer will mix materials with precise measures, transfer glue to tanks as needed, maintain equipment cleanliness, and other duties as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Follow preset mix instructions to create glue adhesive; follow corrective action instructions if variation discrepancies. • Record every mix made and submit form at the end of the shift. Submit forms: glue line cleaning, soyad batch sheet, and flour inventory. • Measure viscosity of every mix before mix is sent to day tank. • Adjust necessary valves to allow glue flow to spreader machines. • Remove glue adhesive from the spreader as needed; steam & pressure wash spreaders at end of use; clean glue lines. • Unload raw material from truck to warehouse. Operate forklift; submit a daily checklist for maintenance upkeep. • Report any issues with product; wet, short, damage, bad lot ID number, etc. • Report low inventory; flour, resin, lime, defoamer, glycerin, borax, and SMBS. • Help with monthly inventory. • Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED; must be at least 18 years of age. • ENTRY LEVEL POSITION with ON-THE-JOB TRAINING. Prior manufacturing experience preferred. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Requires ability to read/understand cleaning, safety and machine operation guidelines. • Ability to understand mechanics of mixer machine, spreader machine, glue lines, and valves to ensure that product specifications are set prior to operation. Must be able to read/understand the viscometers, PH meter, digital weight scales, and make accurate adjustments. • Ability to be flexible in assigned; ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays, as required. • Ability to take supervisory direction and work cooperatively with co-workers in and across departments. • Ability to work independently and meet production requirements. • Ability to work safely and use assigned PPE; ability to identify safety concerns on equipment/machinery and appropriately escalate issues to management. Work Environment: The Glue Mixer is regularly exposed to work near loud machinery and fumes or airborne particles; a respirator must be worn. The employee is required to work in cold to hot temperatures, varying by season, and the environment can be damp or dusty. The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to loud. The floor surface may be uneven or wet. Physical Environment: The employee will be walking, standing, and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to the large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties may involve a variety of physical activities including bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders (up to 20 feet), and operating heavy machinery.
