Main Street Portsmouth is E-X-C-I-T-E-D and ready to welcome guests to the first ever Buzzed Bee, a spelling bee where friends nominate each other and then buy their drinks as they compete to be #1. Who: Main Street Portsmouth, a downtown nonprofit dedicated to beautification, placemaking, events and programing. What: A spelling bee for drinkers. Nominate a friend for $30. They then have to compete in the spelling bee or match the donation to pass the burden onto someone else. Once there, the crowd can sponsor up to 5 drinks for the spellers to see who can win the spelling bee and who loses as words get easier. All guests will have a $10 admission fee. We will have a cash bar for guests, as well. When: September 24, 7 p.m. Where: 535 on Second Street Why: We want to bring exciting and fun ideas to downtown Portsmouth, while raising funds that allow us to continue our work. We think it will be a fun night out for everyone.
