From Lady Bird Johnson’s wildflowers to Michelle Obama’s White House garden, first ladies throughout history have harnessed the power of the sun to create change. Meet up with education staff from the National First Ladies’ Library in the First Ladies Park for an afternoon of solar powered activities. We’ll design solar art inspired by Caroline Harrison’s floral paintings, create Lady Bird inspired seed balls, and make pollinator gardens inspired by Rosalynn Carter and Michelle Obama. All activities are outdoors in First Ladies Park adjacent to the Saxton McKinley House and visitor parking lot. Activties are weather permitting. Rain date: July 23.
