Join Cultivate the City's interactive workshop and discover the art of making hot sauce from one of Cultivate the City's lead farmers. Every year, we make several different types of hot sauces from our unique (and super spicy) fresh peppers, and we're finally ready to share the knowledge and show you how to make your own. We will start with a quick tour of the farm and harvest of fresh peppers (Bhut Jolokia, Scorpion, Carolina Reapers, Thai Chili, Jalapeno, Habanero, Aji Charapita, Aji Amarillo, Aji Chombo and several other peppers to choose from) and other ingredients we will use in our sauces and then jump right into making some blends. You'll learn about some of the secret ingredients that make their way into most of our sauces and the flavor profiles of different peppers, tips to survive intense heat levels without killing your taste buds, and how to make a shelf-stable product with minimal processing. Finally, you'll get a chance to sample everyone's creations, as well as taste the new hot sauces we've been cooking up for 2019!
Here are some of the hot sauces we made last year:
Strawberry Peach Killer Sauce (Ghost Peppers)
Wild Berry Hot Sauce (Jalapenos and Chilis)
Friendship the Sauce (Ground Cherries, Habaneros and Lemon Drop Peppers)
Friendship Killer Hot Sauce (Ghost Peppers)
District of Fire (Pawpaw, Ground Cherries, Fish Peppers, Lemon Drop Peppers)
