Description

We are looking for a full-time assistant to work in our Berkeley Environmental lab service and shipping center. We operate as a satelite office of a main lab. Clients drop off soil and water samples, we prepare and ship them overnite. This position is an opportunity to learn about the environmental industry, a secure and growing sector. We pride ourselves in developing employees to become more knowledgable and capable all the time. While responsibilities include cleaning, driving, and other light labor, our new assistant will have the opportunity to gain useful technical experience such as: -Sample handling and Chain of Custody -Sample preparation -Maintenance and use of environmental sampling hardware -Collecting samples in the field -General lab appropriate procedures -Learning about various environmental tests, why and how they are done -Experience using a lab sample inventory system -Lab business and client relations Primary Responsibilities: -Daily projects and tasks with light labor and cleanup -Driving for deliveries -Receives environmental samples into the laboratory -Label and process the samples -Assembling container orders -Sample preparation with lab-specific tools -Sample management and disposal Qualifications: -Ability to lift 50lbs to waist height repeatedly -Valid state issued driver's license to drive company vehicles -Basic tool usage such as wrenches and screwdrivers -Background screening and drug test required -Proficient basic computer use (email, spreadsheet) -Able to communicate effectively verbal and written -Able to work outside, when needed -Be flexible in work schedule including overtime when needed Hours: 10:00am-6:30pm, Mon-Fri.
