Description
Two canary-winged parakeets. I don't know their genders but I suspect they are two males. They hatched February of 2021 and are probably siblings.
I am seeking to place these bonded parrots with a specialized owner able to provide them with a home where they will not be confined to a bird cage most of the time and where they will have room to fly all day long. An aviary outside for the summer would be excellent, but a large bird room would suffice. There is no urgency in getting rid of these birds, they are well-cared for and not unhappy, and they are not for sale to anyone who asks, I just want them to have a more enriched life than I can give them, and to have lots of room to fly and ideally, some other similarly sized parrots around to flock with. Wild parakeets of this species live in much larger flocks than just two birds.
They are very smart and excel at foraging puzzles intended for larger birds. They eat a pellet diet, love fruit, and eat some frozen/thawed vegetables. They are handleable and hand-trained away from cage and were hand-fed as babies, but are very cage territorial. They get along with similarly sized birds away from their cage only, but not in their cage. They are parrots and they are very loud despite their size.
Someone with experience training parrots would be best. They are small and don't have any behavioral problems, but they are VERY smart. They will open door latches if you don't lock them. They get bored of even complex enrichment toys fast. They would do well with a much bigger place to live. They were wing-clipped all their lives but now have intact wings. I want them to be able to fly and not live in a cage.
Text if you think you are the right person to adopt Basil and Parsley.
