Guitarist Needed For Fuzzed-Out Post-Punk/Grunge Band

Meets

New York City NY

Description

Modern Fictions is looking for a new guitarist with a nasty fuzzed-out, grunge-y sound (Big Muff, Boss DS-2, etc.) for our riff-driven music. We have our own distinctive sound, and we’re not married to one sub-genre.  But there’s a punk energy to pretty much all of our music, though, whether it falls closer to grunge, heavy blues, or even “new wave” post-punk. Here’s a few touchstone albums for that sound (not just stuff we like): In Utero, Fun House, Led Zeppelin I, Surfer Rosa, White Blood Cells, Attack & Release, Paranoid, Nonagon Infinity, Unknown Pleasures, Ziggy Stardust, etc. Your basic riff-fest, which is how we like our music, but we also appreciate the value of quieting things down and a good melodic hook. We are looking for someone who is technically proficient and able to go beyond the blues pentatonic into more adventurous territory - but playing with feel trumps virtuosity (noodling is not soloing).  If you can sing, harmonies are a nice bonus. No hard drugs, big egos, or unreliable people please. We’re chill, easy-going people who take our music seriously.  Being on-time for two-hour weekly rehearsals in Brooklyn is considered a given. Here’s a link to our EP, which focused on the dirty punk-blues side of our music:  https://open.spotify.com/artist/6jLxAHWHfZARVdZZS5dBfe Also, some of our very early-stage GarageBand demos outside that sound: https://soundcloud.com/user-655843130/sets/a-few-sketches/s-rb9rLyY4d8X?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing Besides our earlier material, we’re all excited to develop the new songs in our pocket and move forward, quickly tightening up to gig regularly again and record more properly in the coming months.  If this all sounds like your jam, we can’t wait to hear from you!
