They use the connections they've made to find their next project. Best bet is to get out there, see a ton of bands, introduce yourself and put your own thing together.
Craigslist is for the weekend warrior musicians, the just starting out musicians and the hired gun types. It's also for the musicians that don't want to put in the work of making connections. It's hard work. Put in the work and the opportunities will come.
The best musicians are already out playing. You should be there as well.
