Description

Ideally, plan your pregnancy and achieve normal BMI before conception. In case you are already pregnant, limit the weight gain within 6 to 11 kilos. Doctors indicate BMI above 25 as a risk factor of miscarriage and suggest lifestyle changes with immediate effect. Chances of miscarriage in overweight women is 29% higher than that in women with normal BMI. Obesity further increases the risk by 73%. Being overweight or obese by itself does not cause miscarriage, instead increased insulin resistance and altered androgen and estrogen are major physiological link related to abnormal BMI and miscarriage. PCOS ensuing high BMI is also linked to miscarriage. Self responsibility needed.
