Capitol Boat Club is Madison, Wisconsin’s first private boat club on Lake Mendota, providing the most affordable way to boat whenever you want, without the hassle of boat ownership. As of 2021 we now offer pontoon and speed boat rentals as well! We are currently seeking to add a few fun, energetic, and hardworking individuals to our team as Crew Members. Positions are part-time, but may reach full time hours during the busiest part of the season. What does a Crew Member do? Let’s dive in! Crew Member Responsibilities: - Uncover/cover, clean, fuel and move boats as part of opening, closing and preparing for reservations - Perform equipment checks to make sure all necessary equipment is on board per reservations details - Manage the pre-departure and post-return process using a handheld tablet or smartphone - Welcome, assist, and provide excellent customer service to all members and rental customers during all interactions - Communicate safety information and provide training for members and renters according to company policies and procedures - Be (or become) knowledgeable about the lake, it’s landmarks, and points of interest in order to provide basic guidance to members and renters - Clean and maintain boats and company property according to company standards and schedules - Perform or assist management with basic boat maintenance and repairs - Work with other Crew Members in a team environment to ensure excellent customer service and the completion of all required tasks - Ensure personal appearance is clean and professional - Follow all company policies and procedures - Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information - Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by management - Work outside in the elements and stand for an extended period of time - Complete the state sponsored Boating Safety Course Additional Crew Member Responsibilities: - Act as the Captain for Captained Charters! - Be the Captain for our members/rental customers that are looking to have some fun without the responsibility of driving. Captained Charters are common for bachelor/bachelorette parties, happy hour & dinner cruises, professional outings, family get-to-gethers etc. Either way, you’ll be behind the wheel ready to take members/rental customers wherever they want to go or provide suggestions if they are not familiar with the lake. - Your hourly rate will still apply (yeah that’s right, you’ll get paid just to hang out on the lake!) and you will likely get good tips!* Why be a Capitol Boat Club Crew Member? - Generous hourly rate of $15.00 per hour plus tips* (paid weekly)! - Flexible, non-traditional schedule! - Work that provides variety and is outside by the water (#LakeLife)! - Discounted boat rentals! - Great management team that is fun and easy to work with! What are we looking for? - Availability (this is a big one): - We are open 7 days a week, from roughly 7:00am - 9:00pm, May through October, with the busiest months being June, July and August (you should be available to work during the majority of these months). If hired, you will start immediately, but need to be available a minimum of every weekend (Friday - Sunday) through the end of the season (mid-october). - Holiday, weekend and weekday afternoon/evening availability is a must have as this is when most members and renters make reservations. - Schedules are based on reservations and reservations are dictated by the weather, so you must be flexible and understanding about short notice schedule changes. - At least 18 years of age - High school degree - Be able to pass a criminal background check - Valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle (required) - Comfortable operating or learning to operate boats (prior experience is a huge plus, but not required. We can teach you to operate a boat) - Strong communication and customer service skills - Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks during periods of high activity - Ability to read and manipulate handheld tablets/smartphones - Ability to bend, kneel, balance, and carry equipment up to 50 pounds - Have a positive, cooperative attitude with the capability of working unsupervised APPLY NOW USING OUR GOOGLE FORM: *Members and renters are encouraged to tip Crew Members for their hard work and great customer service, but we can not guarantee that they will nor can we force them to do so.
