The Hilo Sessions is an intimate concert series showcasing our local artists and community organizers. It is our joy to provide alternative social spaces for music and art appreciators to collectivize and celebrate life. Each session will feature a different guest speaker, representing a community org that is doing impactful work for da aina and da people. The Hilo Sessions (Vol. 3) will be featuring two phenomenal bands and a DJ that will surely leave you feeling inspired and amazed: 🙏 Unity and The Family Band Ascend and transcend with organic roots music vibrations! Indigenous West African, Latin and Asian influenced, Icaro infused deep groove prayers...to open, transform and alchemize our bodies and souls! In this ensemble, listeners get to witness the power of world instruments such as the dun dun, cora, djembe, yngoni, and handpan, to name a few. This all-star band features Dr. Unity Nguyen, Freeya Ray, Seth "Old Stoneman" Robinson, Gary Zamber, and Aimryta Archer 🌎 Green Flash A melodic and original World Fusion ensemble performing unique instrumental compositions. Their sound is singular, soft, beautiful, relaxing, exotic, heavy, and exhilarating. The interplay between electric guitar and violin creates a lush and stylized sound, while the congas and bass hold down an undeniable booty shaking groove. There is definitely a global vibe as the band takes listeners on a journey through arabic and spanish landscapes, irish and chinese rock ballads, and even hawaiian style slack key! Green Flash is an eclectic modern rock/nu-metal band that also dips listeners into lush jazzy chillout vibes.
