Other

80 Broad Street,Charleston SC 29401

13 October, 2022

Description

As Charleston suffered from years of natural disasters, wars, and economic hardships, the preservation movement emerged out of necessity in the 1920s and has persevered for over a century. Today, Charleston is expanding and evolving historic preservation to support the people who live and work here, while maintaining the elements that make it special. Learn about notable preservationist visionaries Susan Pringle Frost, Thomas Mayhem Pinckney, Albert Simons, and others, and how their work has spanned generations and preserved Charleston's past, present, and future. Please Note: The tour will meet at and depart from Washington Park at 80 Broad Street, adjacent to City Hall. There are restrooms on the ground floor of City Hall for guests. The tour will begin at 10 AM and lasts approximately 2-2.5 hours. Members of the Preservation Society of Charleston receive discounts on Fall Tours tickets.
