Hi! I am looking for a dog. I've had dogs for the past 18 years and was volunteering at a shelter before that, but my last dog passed away in 2021 due to complications from age. I live in a townhouse, so a quieter dog would be best if it has a big bark. That also means I don't have a yard. We do have walking trails; Valley Forge is nearby, and there are dog parks in Lansdale and Hatfield IF they are safe for the dog/ the dog is okay with them. I do have experience with special needs (deaf and/or blind), breeds of all sizes (I did a lot of fostering for a few years), training (I competed in rally-o in AKC), grooming, and CGC and therapy work. I am home all day, every day. Mostly, I want a dog that needs me, needs a home. I live with my husband and two teenagers (age 15+). My kids have grown up with dogs. We do not really have guests, although my oldest daughter stops by to say hi on occasion, and my dad flies in once a year for a week. Otherwise, no in/out. I do have a pair of guinea pigs, but they are up high in an enclosed cage, and I'm not stupid enough to let them out while a dog is loose. I can tell you more about me/us, my home, what the dog would eat, where it would sleep, etc, if you send me an email and ask. I do have vet references and personal references, if needed. I don't mind a home check. I also don't mind keeping you updated on how the dog is doing- I did this with the old owner of the Aussie I had for the nine years we had her. I may not have hundreds to drop on an adoption fee, but I do have a good, loving home with plenty of attention, and the dog will never be without. You should know that my community has breed restrictions (bully-types, rottis, doberman, german shepherds, mastiffs...). I can't think of them all off the top of my head, but they're pretty typical.
