WORCESTER, MA — Welcome to the July 18 edition of Monday Manual, where we highlight important events coming up during the week in Patch communities between Wayland and Worcester. Here's what to know for the week of July 18: Worcester The steepest biking challenge in Worcester happens Sunday. The Major Taylor Association's George Street Bike Challenge will see who can pedal up the city's steepest hill fastest. The George Street climb is only 500 feet, but it's a thigh-burning 18 percent grade. Wayland The Wayland Council on Aging's final summer concert will be held Thursday. The Sudbury Valley New Horizons Band will play starting at 7 p.m. in the courtyard at the town building, 41 Cochituate Road. Marlborough On Wednesday, the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project will visit Marlborough to spray pesticides. Truck-mounted sprayers will move through a section of the city between about dusk and 11 p.m. The CMMCP releases the exact spraying area after 3 p.m. the day spraying will occur. Milford The Claflin Hill Symphony Summer Winds concert series will continue this week at the pavilion at Milford Town Park. The music starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westborough, Shrewsbury The Worcester Regional Transit Authority board — which includes members from both towns — will meet Thursday to approve new service changes, and possibly vote on WRTA's fare policy. The bus system is free until at least the end of 2022, but the agency hasn't decided whether the fare-free policy will remain after that. Sudbury Sudbury and some local residents have been fighting an Eversource transmission line project for years. Starting this week, contractors working for the utility will be conducting surveying work at several major intersections in preparation for the project. Find out more here.
