Description
(OK, sorry upfront about the length; but I feel like these things work better when they have as much specific information as possible)
I'm a mid-40s guitarist, singer, and songwriter in south Minneapolis. I play a lot on my own, including occasional solo acoustic shows; I'd like to get that energy into a band, either building a new one up from scratch or joining an existing one. I've been playing since the late 90s, have a fair amount of experience playing shows and recording. On guitar, I move pretty fluidly between rhythm and lead; can do either, usually do some of both.
Musically, I guess I fell into something like "weird electric Americana," maybe? I kind of have one foot in classic country and one in punky noise rock; most of what I do seems to contain elements of both. I once recorded an EP of country versions of Clash songs; I later recorded an album that included covers of both Hank Williams and Low. This is by no means a complete list of influences, but I guess maybe it gives you a flavor? I have a bunch of music available online and on Spotify, at https://theawesomeboys.com/ and https://open.spotify.com/artist/5OOcg90G44OAA9x7IHmtRG. That's not necessarily the exact sound I'd be insisting on recreating or anything, but it should give a sense of what I'm capable of and what I sound like, more or less.
As far as approach: I'm on the casual-but-take-this-seriously end. Ideally practicing every week (-ish), or at least every other week, playing a few shows a year.
I don't have much available in the way of a practice space, although my garage is workable until it gets cold. I also don't have a PA, but that could change.
Like I said: if you have an existing band going and it seems like I'd be a good addition, let's talk! Alternately, if you're another unattached musician out there who reads this and thinks "this sounds like a band I'd like to help build," let's talk!
