2 Loveable Dogs Need Adopters/Fosters ASAP!

SET TO BE EUTHANIZED 7/19 Please read about Johnny and Matco below and call ). They have done nothing wrong! Both listen well and are very loveable! They are mentally breaking down from long periods of kennel confinement with limited opportunities for exercise and play. JOHNNY (ID #A4740473) is a 2-year-old, neutered, brown and black German Shepherd/Mix (65 lbs.). Very stunning in person! Volunteers describe Johnny as gentle, affectionate, and well-mannered. He likes being petted and will lean in for more. He has been easy to leash and return to his kennel. He knows “sit” for treats and takes them gently. He has shown interest in playing with dogs in adjacent play yards and has been non-reactive when dogs walk by. Although Johnny hasn’t had a dog-to-dog assessment, his behavior around other dogs at the shelter suggests that with SLOW introductions, he would be able to live with another dog in a home. It is recommended that a potential adopter understands what a stressed dog needs and that Johnny meets the entire family. MATCO (ID #A4732749) is a 1.5-year-old puppy! He is gorgeous in person, and and his fur is so soft! He's a neutered, chocolate Cane Corso/Staffordshire Terrier (70lbs.) Matco is an affectionate, friendly, playful puppy that likes attention and pets. He knows “sit”,” shake” and “down”; and when offered treats, takes them gently! He loves playing with tennis balls and like most puppies, he gets the “zoomies” when out in the yard and can be jumpy at times. He pulls on-leash but does less so when a harness is used. In shelter, he doesn't seem reactive to other dogs. Sociability with dogs is unknown, so Johnny would need to be kept separate initially, with a SLOW introduction to the resident dog. It is recommended that he meets the entire family and that he has in-home training to work on leash skills. PLEASE REMEMBER!! Both these dogs have been living in a high-stress environment and will need time to de-stress and relax!!
