In order to receive a certificate of completion for Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) you must register for and attend all eight sessions.
You and your family will benefit from this training by learning skills in communicating so that everyone feels free to discuss their problems and concerns without withdrawing. Using Method III will help your children learn self-discipline, self-control and an inner sense of responsibility. You will learn to work together instead of against each other, resulting in fewer angry outbursts and more problem solving. You will also learn to create an environment where everyone participates in the rule making so all will feel motivated to comply with the rules.
This training is intended for those who work with children and youth within the child welfare system or are at risk of entering. This includes child welfare workers, resource parents, youth sports coaches, youth mentors, teachers and volunteers/staff working with this population.
