Instructors: ✨Jessica Marie & Sarah✨ Assistant Instructor: Oksana ———————————————————- 🔹Urban Kiz Level 2 Series🔹 This series curriculum was a co-collab between The Kiz Lab and Jovan aka DJ Cassanova from The Golden Standard. Shoutout to DJ Casanova for helping us grow our community! This series is designed to be progressive to give students a solid understanding of Urban Kiz core concepts and techniques. It is open to students who want to feel confident with their dance skills and more advanced students who want to upgrade and refine their technique! In typical Kiz Lab style, we will be teaching the “peanuts” of basic moves in order to break down the technical concepts behind leading and following. This will help students gain a deeper understanding of Urban Kiz and will allow them to build upon these foundational “peanuts” to more easily learn more complex moves! ➡️Requirements: We require that dancers know: - Basics 1, 2, 3 - Lead and Follow Saidas - Shuffle step In order for our higher-level dancers to get the most out of this series, we will spend the first few minutes testing the class to ensure everyone is at the appropriate level to participate. PLEASE NOTE...If for any reason the instructor feels you are not ready for Level 2, you will be reimbursed and given individualized feedback on things to work on. A Black Woman - Veteran owned and minority led Urban Kiz dance organization located in the Bay Area, CA. Jessica Marie started her dance journey in June 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. She has spent many years training and learning under some of the top instructors in the U.S. and abroad. These passion-driven and creative instructors fueled Jessica to travel, fostering her love for Kizomba and Urban Kizomba. She specializes in Tarraxinha, Tarraxo, and Urban Kiz. Additionally, she can teach and dance as a lead or a follow. She has taught as an instructor in multiple cities and states around the U.S. Jessica Marie is known for her attention to detail, her ability to break down complex material, and provide individualized feedback even when leading group classes. Her dance students also appreciate her approaches around inclusivity, mindset around consent, and her promoting of safe dance spaces. Jessica Marie’s background in clinical psychology (as a fifth year PhD student) also creates a unique learning environment as she has the ability to see more than just the dancer in the room, but she is able to connect to the person in the room fostering a deeper connection and cultivating an optimal learning environment. ✨About DJ Casanova: Creator of The Golden Standard, DJ Casanova is a renowned DJ from Boston who has become a pillar in the U.S. Kiz dance scene. He is also a talented instructor and event organizer who collaborates with both dancers and DJs from all over the world! ———————————————————-
