Monthly walking tours of historic Elmwood Cemetery (founded in 1872) will commence June 18th and will take place on the third Saturday of each month through October 2022. Tour participants should meet at the Armour Chapel within the cemetery grounds at 10AM. The tours will last about one hour. There will be no charge for the tours but donations will be welcome as these events are fundraisers to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Elmwood Cemetery. We will visit the gravesites of some of the most famous, infamous, and forgotten souls from Kansas City history. Be prepared to hear wonderful stories of some of Kansas City’s most interesting historic people!! Most of the walking will be along roads but we will go 'cross country' for short distances so be sure to wear appropriate footwear. Sun protection is also recommended. Elmwood Cemetery is located at 4900 Truman Road in Kansas City.
