Click here to learn more. Here are the top three stories today in Birmingham: A 17-year-old is in critical condition after being shot on Avenue Y near the 2500 block of 15th Street Ensley. According to police, the shooting happened yesterday afternoon at an undetermined time. Police say that the teen was shot while walking down the street. The teen was taken to UAB Hospital where as of Wednesday evening he is receiving treatment. (WBRC)Don't have any weekend plans? Now you do! Companies in the Birmingham-Hoover area raised weekly earnings by 4.6 percent, while the cost of living skyrocketed by 8.11 percent. Experts say that the trend reflects what's happening across the country: employees are dissatisfied with wages that don't keep up with their cost of living, so they're hitting the job market to gin up a deal.
