Inside/Out continues!Join landscape architects and designers; clients, advocates, and activists; students and citizens for small group site tours of landscapes throughout our region. Prioritizing issues of climate and health, equity and resilience, each tour will discuss ideas and implementation as we explore these landscapes together. Tom North Trailhead Park This newly completed project includes a new parking area, trailhead, and accessible trail with connections to the New England Trail/Mt. Tom and a new hiking trail on Little Mountain. The park is located off of East Street in Easthampton, MA. The project was a collaboration between Easthampton, the Kestrel Land Trust and Pascommuck Conservation Trust. The design team included Dodson & Flinker and GZA Geoenvironmental. Led by Peter Flinker, FASLA, Dodson & Flinker Read the Mt. Tom Trailhead Park community driven design report by Dodson & Flinker Landscape Architects & Planners, and read about the "Trailhead, accessible trail taking shape on Mount Tom" from the Daily Hampshire Gazette. .In EASTHAMPTON, MASSACHUSETTS:2:45pm Manhan Meadows, Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary Meet at 127 Combs Rd, EasthamptonFrom mass.gov: "The Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration partnered with MassAudubon to restore 15-acres of existing grassland (former agricultural field) to a high-terrace floodplain forest community. The Manhan Meadows Restoration Project, located within MassAudubon’s Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary, will ultimately establish an increasingly rare natural community type in Massachusetts and in doing so, re-establish floodplain processes and succession, create habitat for several rare plant and animal species, and improve adjacent grassland habitat. This is the first project of its type for DER, and highlights the Division’s efforts to identify and pursue new restoration opportunities across the State.
