OKC Beautiful's Sustainability Social Hour is for those who love the environment and our city. Each session is centered around networking with those who have a passion for and want to learn more about environmental stewardship topics.
Each session features a Q&A with a guest speaker. August's featured guest is Brent Allen, Lifestyle Director of Riversport OKC. Brent has dedicated much of his focus on advocating about the harms of single-use plastic and styrofoam on the environment, particularly its impacts on our waterways. He has created a 25 year career in the lifestyle sports industry and started working on ocean advocacy in 2015 in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. This led to him founding the nonprofit Protect Monterey Bay and upon returning to Oklahoma, began the Riversport River Protectors initiative.
His career in the lifestyle sports industry gives him a unique perspective on the role of water in our lives. Come learn about his journey, work with the River Protectors initiative, and how you can be an advocate in the community!
All ages are welcome! You do not have to be 21+ to attend.
Sustainability Social Hour is every second Wednesday of the month. Location changes each month. Visit www.okcbeautiful.com/sustainability-social-hour to learn more.
