Kumu Hula with the support and partnership of the County of Maui are moving forward with the creation of Hālau of ʻŌiwi Art (HOA), a first of its kind facility in the state, dedicated to and inspired by the study, practice, celebration and perpetuation of Hula and the varied ʻŌiwi arts for which Hula serves as the nexus. At approximately 47,000 sq. feet of Hula, community, gathering, performance, office & retail space in Wailuku town, we look forward to working with our community to ensure the space is a reflection of our collective voices.
As Kumu Hula Hōkūlani Holt has said, "as a cultural center for our community and the world, the Hālau of ʻŌiwi Art will inspire connection and uphold cultural excellence, which is inherent in Hula."
Please join us on the Great Lawn of the University of Hawaii Maui Campus on Saturday, July 30th from 5PM - 7PM for Hula, Music, presentations by our Hui Hana Noʻeau and more.
