kith: noun \ˈkith\ : acquaintances, friends, neighbors, or the like This summer The Union is thrilled to revive a tradition that dates back to the earliest years of our organization . . . Kith! Kith is a curated potluck event centered around the goal of fostering community, intentional conversation, and new connections. It’s been more than a few years now since The Union hosted a Kith event, but we’ve sooo missed the magic that’s made in these intimate gatherings. This August, YOU are invited to join us in an evening of food and fellowship in The Union’s Abundance Garden. Come enjoy the late-summer blooms of the garden, and the opportunity to embrace new friendships. There are just two rules for Kith: 1 - Bring a dish of your choosing to share for the potluck dinner. 2 - Sit by someone you don’t already know well, and come prepared to make new connections. (To help encourage this, each participant needs to register for the event individually.) Kith is a casual affair, though we’ll want to start on time so everyone’s eating and conversing is on the same rhythm. Some beverages will be provided, though you are welcome to bring your own as well. As part of registration you’ll have an opportunity to list any food allergies, so we can work to keep things safely labeled and spaced on the potluck table. Participation is FREE, though space is limited to 40 people, so please register in advance. (We will open a waitlist option once we’ve hit 40 registrations, in case there are any cancellations.) Seating will be a mixture of tables, chairs, and blankets on the ground. The Abundance Garden is wheelchair accessible. While The Shirley Tyree Theater is under construction, parking is available on the street (Willis Ave.) or in our west parking lot across 24th Street, on Lizzie Robinson Ave. **To help preserve the health of our community, masks are required when entering the Union building.
