Description

Canard-Duchêne’s passion stems from a unique blend of family values and an identity deeply rooted in the Champagne region. It all started with the love of Victor Canard and Léonie Duchêne. In 1868, they created the eponymous Maison Canard-Duchêne, driven by a bold vision: to reveal the exceptional potential of their hillside village, located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. Canard-Duchêne is in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, surrounded by celebrated vineyards and stunning landscapes. Ludes boasts an exceptional location. Perched atop the famed Montagne de Reims plateau, the village is nestled amongst lush forests and delicate hillside vines. Following are the wines we will be tasting. AUTHENTIC BRUT Authentic Brut epitomizes the Canard-Duchene style, where freshness and intensity bring together nobility and nature. A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the wine is characterized by fresh fruit aromas jostling with brioche notes. The fruit aromas carry through to the palate and intermingle with pastry notes. Authentic Brut epitomizes is light-hearted Champagne, perfect for every occasion. BRUT ROSÉ With its delicate, pinkish hue, Canard-Duchene Brut Rosé stands apart for its intense, fresh fruit aromas of strawberries, with a subtle hint of grenadine, against a backdrop of mineral notes for enhanced freshness. 91 Points Wine Spectator - "Very elegant, with graphite, cherry and citrus aromas and flavors. Builds nicely on the palate, with lovely fruit and a refined texture. The finish lingers." THIENOT BRUT The NV Thienot Champagne Brut tastes like a baby Krug with its rich, nutty, powerful style. Ample apple and citrus fruits as well as a touch of minerality develop with time in the glass, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has a awesome texture, and a great finish. This cuvée is 45% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, and the balance Pinot Meunier, mostly from Grand Cru sites, and it was brought up all in stainless steel. The dosage is 9 grams per liter. 92 Points. DOURTHE RED BORDEAUX Red 2019 is deep, dark, ruby-red. Complex aromatics allying notes of ripe fruits such as morello cherries and figs with hints of toast. Initially rounded, the wine reveals remarkable elegance on the mid-palate,together with noticeable, yet perfectly measured andintegrated tannins on the finish. This is a classic example from a vintage which while hot, is not lacking in poise. CHATEAU REYSSON HAUT MEDOC Lovely deep garnet in colour. Highly expressive on the bouquet, offering appealing, complex aromas in a fusion of black cherries, blackberries and strawberries, together with a hint of spice. Full-bodied on the palate, and very generous, structured with well-coated tannins. The intense flavours are joined by lovely, well-integrated oak. The freshness present right through to the final note perfectly encapsulates the typical character of Merlot cultivated on Reysson’s clay-limestone soils. 87% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot CHATEAU ROUMIEU SAUTERNES Château Roumieu is a family-owned property passed down from generation to generation since the 18th century. Very aromatic with hints of lime tree and other roasted and flowery touches present from the bouquet to the finish.
