Stax Museum and Stax Music Academy present “SOLID GOLD SOULSVILLE,” a free indoor/outdoor event with live music, food trucks, arts and crafts, and more to celebrate Soulsville USA. Join us Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 5 – 6:30 p.m.! The Stax Museum of American Soul Music and its expansive, secured parking lot will be abuzz with activities as the Soulsville Foundation’s Stax Museum and Stax Music Academy present “SOLID GOLD SOULSVILLE: A Celebration of the Music and Community at the Global Capital of Soul,” an indoor/outdoor free event open to all residents of the Soulsville USA community and to the general public. WHO: Hosted by the Soulsville Foundation for Soulsville USA residents and the general public WHAT: SOLID GOLD SOULSVILLE community event WHERE: Indoor/outdoor at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, 926 E. McLemore Ave, Memphis, TN 38106 WHEN: Thursday, August 4, 2022, 5 – 6:30 p.m. *Bring your own lawn chair! The event will serve not only as the official kickoff of the Stax Music Academy’s #MusicMustContinue fundraising campaign, but also the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year. The celebration will include performances on an outdoor stage by 926, the Stax Music Academy Alumni Band, the Stax Music Academy Rhythm Section, and other local artists. There will also be family-friendly games and activities, local food truck vendors, Give901and Memphis Police Department Crump Station school supplies giveaways, Choose901 Summer Learning Kits giveaways, arts and crafts activities designed by the Stax Museum, & community partners with informational booths. The Stax Museum will be open and offering free admission to all attendees from 5 – 6:30 p.m., a great time to see the current changing exhibit, “LOVE IN THE CLUB: Black Chicago Nightclub Photos by Michael Abramson,” set up in a gallery to resemble the Windy City’s underground club scene and reminiscent of Memphis’ own R&B palace, Club Paradise.
