Job Description: Project Superintendent Primary Function: Provide overall On-Site Administrative and Technical Management on construction project site. Schedule, coordinate subcontractors and supervise craft employee activities. These duties include but are not limited to: Typical Duties: 1. Supervise total construction efforts to ensure project is completed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule requirements. Includes interfacing with client representatives, other contractors and subcontractors to keep fully updated, work through changes and offer alternatives and solutions. 2. Plan, coordinate and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite, administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.). 3. Supervise craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract. 4. May draft and or generate project purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc. 5. Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required. 6. Assist Project Management in implementing project procedures, working documents and standards. 7. Ensure all onsite personnel, including subcontractors, comply with project procedures, safety program requirements and company work guidelines. Document all violations, notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required. 8. Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project. 9. Perform additional assignments per Supervisor’s direction. 10. Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required. 11. Maintain liaison with other departments (i.e., Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule. 12. Design-Build coordination and review. 13. Ownership, updating and distribution of project schedule. 14. Submittals-Review for conformance, track and take ownership of ALL project submittals. 15. RFI’s-generate, distribute, track and distribute requests for information. 16. Notify Supervisor if a change to the contract is issued by response to RFI, Owner direction and/or other unforeseen conditions. 17. Help during bidding projects & issuing subcontracts. 18. Post-job review & close out. 19. Perform additional assignments per Supervisor/Corporate Director’s direction. Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience: Education and experience include: Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and /or related experience. Minimum of eight years construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods): craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations; engineering, cost control schedules and safety required. Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills essential. Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise large groups essential. *The above duties are not meant to restrict initiative, but rather to define minimum activities.
