Next Year, Ferrari's Ass Is Mine. It was 1964. Carroll Shelby was on the cusp of achieving his long-sought dream of winning the World GT Championship. His newly unleashed Daytona Coupes had been dominating throughout the season, racking up both wins and points, and were nipping on the heels of Enzo and his champion Ferraris. It all came down to one last race, and Shelby was determined to win, having entered three Daytonas to compete that day. At the very last moment, Enzo would withdrawal all of his entries, effectively nullifying the race from the points competition, and guaranteeing his team as the season points winner. Carroll was furious and declared that he would be back the following year determined to win, whatever the cost.
