Description
This sweet hound dog is Ruby and the terrier is Skittles. Their human Mama had to go into a nursing home so they are staying with us while they look for the perfect home. They're doing fine with our active family of kids, but would definitely be perfect companions for an older person, as that's what they're used to.
Ruby is very calm and easygoing, well mannered, loves attention and will gently prod you with her paw or head to remind you that you stopped petting her. She has a typical hound dog bark, but doesn't bark much; she really only barks if she's ignored for long periods. She's fine with cats and livestock, ok with other dogs as long as they aren't super annoying (think teenage-husky type of annoying) or trying to take over "her" couch. I've never seen her around chickens.
Skittles is sweet and energetic, loves car rides and is good with kids, cats, and livestock. He's ok with other dogs unless they're after his bone, but does like to chase chickens (not to kill, just to watch them run!). Like Ruby, he yaps only if he needs your attention, he is really very quiet compared to most terriers! Loves to sit on laps, and will lift up one front leg to make it easier for you to scratch his tummy.
These 2 sweet puppy dogs would love to go together but can be placed separately if needed.
Also. We're planning a trip to see "Mom" in the nursing home in August, and if possible, would love a home that would be open to either waiting until then, or allowing us to borrow her/them back for that weekend.
