Five day free summer sailing camp for children of active duty Army and wounded Army veterans on the Potomac River, within 10 miles of Fort Belvoir, Virginia. 15 hours of hands-on lessons aboard Sunfish sailboats. Children will be taught to rig a Sunfish; boating safety; knots used in rigging; points of sail; basic navigational markers; right-of-way rules; man overboard drills; capsizing and recovery; mooring and docking drills with plenty of hands-on practice. Morning or afternoon sessions for five days, starting Mondays through August 2022. All equipment, including life vests, provided. Eligibility: - ages 8 to 15 years old. - children of active duty US Army parents E-5 and below, - children of any US Army veteran E-5 or below, who is eligible to receive medical care from any Military Medical facility or the Veterans Administration.
