Los Osos Pet Hospital is looking for motivated individuals to fill kennel staff positions. Must be interested in working with animals, a quick learner, and able to work independently. Previous experience is not required but is a plus. Part-time employment weekday afternoons. Saturday and Sunday availability a must. The position will be available beginning now. Job Description -- Veterinary Kennel Tech This is a physical job and includes but is not limited to the item listed below. Each area of these duties may include a significant amount of physical activity, lifting items and animals, and restraining animals in the facility. Kennel: Care of boarding and hospitalized animals including cage cleaning, exercising, feeding, observing for signs of illness, and laundry. Giving baths and any other grooming as may be necessary to the treatment and constant cleanliness of each animal. Recognizes and records any unusual condition or abnormal behavior of boarding pets. Feeds each animal as prescribed by the attending veterinarian and records patient appetites. Receives animals to be boarded at the hospital and is responsible for their proper identification and for record keeping during their stays. Responsible for feeding and medicating all boarding pets and maintaining clean kennel facilities. Maintenance: General cleaning of all areas in and around the hospital, yard maintenance (sweeping, feces removal, etc.) to maintain clean, odor-free, and attractive environment. Housekeeping and laundry duties for all areas. Inventory: Unpacking, labeling and stocking of all hospital supplies and diets. Hospital Staff Assistance: Cleaning and autoclaving hospital supplies. Assisting veterinarians and support staff in restraining patients for procedures and treatments (animals ranging from 0-100+lbs). Further assistance to all support staff in the completion of hospital duties.
