Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in 3 seasons of Natural Horsemanship Sports and in Horse Internship classes where appropriate. Assist in facility maintenance, feeding, horse care, upkeep, and daily barn operations. Act as an “on call” person when the Director is not on campus. Assist in exercising horses and training horses depending on experience. Manage reservoir water system during the Spring season. Conduct re risk management activities such as mowing during the Spring season. Weekly trailhead management. Assist in Cattle Program: moving cattle (depending on experience), feeding, fixing fence line and butcher pickups. Must be familiar and open to the philosophy of Ray Hunt, Buck Brannaman or Pat Parelli. Must have experience teaching natural riding, groundwork and liberty with ages 12-18. Must also be willing to learn new horsemanship skills and teaching styles under the curriculum of the Midland Horse Program. Most of all must be passionate about horses and willing to engage with our community of employee residents and high school students. Minimum Qualifications: Hard working in a physically demanding position. Prior ranch experience. Well-organized and self-motivated. Experience operating large equipment. Have natural horsemanship experience, training and philosophy. Willingness to follow directions and be flexible with changing ranch needs. Ability to work as a team and collaborate with others. Possess a positive attitude, have high energy and be self-directed. Pass criminal and driving background tests. Health clearance for TB screening & vaccinations. Additional Desired Qualifications: Prior ranch experience. Experience operating large equipment. How to Apply: This position is open until filled. Start date is as soon as possible.
