Two dogs free to good home

These two dogs (one male, one female) were found a day or two before 4th of July weekend around Houghton and 22nd. I've been caring for them and looking for their owner during that time. Here's the short version: We learned the owner had gone homeless and likely abandoned them. They were found with two ends of severed leashes attached to one's collar. The other had a cheap belt as a collar. They are not microchipped, they are not fixed. They are both extremely sweet and well socialized. They are definitely cuddlers and would do well in a home where they can be given lots of love and attention. They know how to use a dog door, and the absence of that, we were told by friends of the owner we were able to contact that they are trained to use puppy pads indoors. Ideally I'd like them to be adopted together, as they seem to be a bonded pair. I would like to meet you in person and speak with you some to ensure you would be a good fit for these dogs. I reserve the right to refuse to allow you to take them if I feel like you are unfit to care for them. Long version of their story: Another friend of mine was the one who found them. I took the dogs because he didn't have any time to dedicate to them, and already had puppies to take care of. The one that had a proper collar had a tag that had a name and a number on it. The number was a dead line, but my housemate and I were able to find the owner's facebook profile. We messaged her and some people on her friend's list, and after several days got a response from one of the friends. She tried calling her friend, only to be met with the same dead line. She then went to the owner's apartment only to find that she no longer lived there. Further research and we found the owner's partner, who got back to us and informed us that the owner had been living out of her car for a while, and could no longer care for the dogs. The dogs are named Esme and Mishka.
