Description

A message from Creative Director, Dalila Brooks from LUV is Cool: After social distancing was lifted due to COVID, I decided to restructure and focus on offering free poetry workshops. We have the opportunity to redevelop the way we associate. Gathering in a space for an event that offers us an area of focus so we can have meaningful conversations is an invaluable experience. The poems we write and share during the workshop have the power to carry us beyond the event to our safe spaces like home and assist us in remembering the things that matter in our lives again. I hope these events become the catalyst for rebuilding our relationships so that we can start to have meaningful conversations with one another as we find our balance again socially. This poetry workshop is part of our 2022 summer garden series, featuring outdoor poetry events near and around garden spaces in the Washington, D.C. area, with the hope that we'll reconnect to nature and our true nature called love. We invite you to bring your family and friends and join us. In addition to GPS, this space is located on the 5600 Block of New Hampshire nestled behind Blair Road Community Garden in a sculpture memorial garden. Rain or shine. Believe in flowers, trees, squirrels and leaves. www.luviscool.com | www.nowords.space LUV is Cool is a subsidiary of NoWords.Space which was initially responsible for developing community poetry events (in addition to visual arts workshops and gardening) around the Washington DC area to connect people to community and offer a means for self-expression. LUV is Cool. LUV is Love. This effort is dedicated in memory to my father, Luther Brooks (1946-2021).
